Converse Shoe




This project arose from an assignment I gave my students in my Materials and Lighting class for the Art Institute. The assignment was to texture a shoe, trying to be as realistic as possible. The assignment itself was pretty straightforward, and I showed them allot of good texturing tips. The students work came out with some mixed results with some doing really well and others not able to show realism at all. Well through this assignment I decided to do it myself and see If I could push myself into creating a realistic interpretation of an old converse shoe.

Even though I do my own modeling, for this one I had found the model online. I also did this for time reasons and did not have allot of time to spare on creating one. After I got the model I unwrapped it fully and broke it up into parts of the shoe to make it easier for texturing. From there I went online to find photo refernce of this type of shoe and also what might happen to it after it has been worn a long time. These are some of the images I found below:
